How to leverage Tern's text editor

This article walks through how to use Tern's rich text editor (a fancy way to say that 'sophisticated formatting capabilities') across Tern.

1. If you're looking to add rich text to an existing trip, click into that trip

For the sake of this exercise, I'm going to add rich text to an activity within a trip. But, keep in mind, you can use this formatting most places across the product like notes, activities, messages, etc.

2. Once in the trip, click into the activity you're looking to format

In this case, I'm going to edit the "Stay at Marriott" activity. Click Edit.

3. You'll see that originally, I just had a block of plain text in this activity. Now, using the rich text editor, I’ll enhance the description by adding formatting and additional content.

4. Place your cursor on the line you want to format

At the top of the editor you'll see a block-type dropdown that shows Paragraph by default. This dropdown controls the format of the current line.

5. Open the block-type dropdown and choose a format.

Click Paragraph to open the dropdown, then select Heading 1, Heading 2, or Heading 3 for a header, or Bulleted List or Numbered List to start a list. To format text you've already typed, highlight it first, then pick the format.

6. Now enter in the Heading context

I'm adding "Experience timeless luxury at Marriott!" into this lodging description.

7. Add an image with the Insert image button

Click Insert image in the editor toolbar, then upload or select your image.

8. Select the image from your upload menu

The image is added directly to your description.

Note: The editor no longer adds a caption box to images. To add context, type it on the line directly below the image.
