Where report data comes from

From which data field are reports pulling the information for countries and/or states?

If there is a location on a booking, the report will pull from that, using the following location assignment process:

  • Property bookings → Tern uses only property location

  • Port/cruise bookings → Tern uses only port location

  • Other bookings → Tern uses day/activity locations from itinerary

Is the supplier listed in reports based on the preferred supplier list at the agency level or the supplier that the agent entered on the booking?

The supplier listed will be associated with what is listed on the booking. You can clean your reports up by selecting the booking and correcting the supplier listed.

How is a VIP client defined?

VIP clients within the Agency Clients report are automatically generated based on lifetime gross sales or commission received based on items booked with the client.

Example report views

How can I see a report for trips being traveled in a specific time period, not when they were booked?

Use the Travel Start Date filter to filter results by when clients actually travel rather than when bookings were created.

To see a full year of travel activity including future months:
1. Set Travel Start Date to Fixed and enter your desired date range (e.g., Jan 1–Dec 31, 2026).
2. Clear the Booking Date filter — if it's set, it will restrict results even when Travel Start Date is configured correctly.

With Booking Date cleared and Travel Start Date on a fixed range, you'll see all months that have existing bookings with matching travel dates — including future months.

How can I see a report that can be used to calculate how much commission has been received but not yet paid out to advisors?

This can be found in the Commissions tab, outside of one of our main reports. Under Commissions, go to Agent Payouts, then Filter to "Ready" and "Hold". The "Due" tab indicates payouts due now.

How can I see a report of agency leads?

This can be accomplished in the Agency Trips report. Filter by "Trip (Lead) Created" to adjust the date range desired. Under All Trips within this dashboard, you can see the trip, status of the booking, and agent owner.

As the agency owner, how can I see my own bookings as an agent separate from the agency summary?

All bookings for you as an agent will show up in the agency reports and you can filter to yourself as the 'Advisor Full Name'. You can also use the reports titled as "Your" under the reporting tab which will show you only your business.

Exports

Can I export reports from Tern?

Yes. Reports can be exported as CSV, XLSX (Excel), PDF, and PNG files.

What data is included in exported reports?

Exports include the same data visible in the report, such as booking details, dates, revenue, and commission information.
