Merging contacts in Tern helps keep your records clean and organized by combining duplicate entries into one contact. Here's how to use the merge contact feature:

Steps to Merge Contacts:

1. Open the Contact Card:

Navigate to the contact card for one of the contacts you want to merge.

2. Access the Merge Option:

Click the three dots in the top right corner of the contact card.

3. Select ‘Merge Contacts’:

From the menu, choose the **‘Merge Contacts’** option.

When merging contacts, Tern combines all information from both contact records into one. The 'destination' contact is what is going to remain in Tern. The 'source' contact is what is going to be merged and will no longer exist separately after the merge.

Matching Criteria:

Tern identifies potential duplicates based on:

- Email Address

- Last Name

- First Name or Preferred Name

If any of these fields differ, Tern may create a duplicate contact. However, with the merge feature, you can easily resolve duplicates by consolidating them into a single record.
