Learn how to use Tern's dashboard as your system control center

Written by Yohan Soldevilla

Overview

Think your dashboard as your system control center to review important metrics, keep tabs on client dates and trips, and take action on important items like tasks and payments.

Customize your dashboard

Click the Customize button to hide modules you don't need (Analytics, Due payments, Active authorizations, Tasks, Form responses, Recent/Traveling/Upcoming trips) and to control which event types appear on the calendar (trip departures, trip returns, birthdays, anniversaries, passport expirations, Tern events, and meetings). Use Reset to return to the default view. Your choices are remembered on your device.

Which tasks show on your dashboard

Your dashboard lists incomplete tasks that are due today or overdue, based on each task's due date. Tasks due in the future — or with no due date set — won't appear here. To see every incomplete task across all your trips, click Tasks next to Trips in the top menu.

Resolve payments due by marking them as 'paid'

  • Click through on a "payment due" and scroll to the payments section on the booking

  • Mark it as "paid" to prevent it from showing up on the dashboard

Resolve pending authorizations by marking them as 'paid'

  • Click through on a "Pending authorization" and scroll to the payments section on the booking

  • Mark it as "paid" to prevent it from showing up on the dashboard

Resolve tasks by marking them "complete"

  • Mark complete right from the dashboard using the little circle

  • Tasks will show like this until you refresh or return to the dashboard later

  • Hit 'task zero' for a fun reward

My screen looks zoomed in on Tern. How do I fix it?

This usually means your browser has a zoom level set specifically for Tern. Browsers like Chrome and Edge store zoom settings per site, so Tern can look too big or too small even while other websites look fine.

To reset it: Press Ctrl + 0 (Windows) or Cmd + 0 (Mac) while on any Tern page. This resets the zoom to 100% for that site.

How it happens: Pinch-to-zoom on a trackpad, or accidentally pressing Ctrl + scroll, will change the zoom for just the current site.
