Agency Back Office Home

An overview of Back Office Home, the consolidated workspace where agency administrators manage suppliers, bookings, commissions, and agency settings in Tern.

Written by Molly Johnson

Overview

Back Office Home gives agency administrators one consolidated place to handle everything related to running their agency, separate from the day-to-day agent experience.

Who Can Use It

Back Office Home is only visible to agency administrators. Agents do not see it. If you're an admin, you'll find Back Office Home as the leftmost item in the top navigation.

What's Inside

Agency switcher

If you're part of multiple agencies, use the agency switcher at the top to change which agency you're viewing. This will work across all pages - no more "per page" toggling every time.

Dashboard
Your agency dashboard is the landing page.

Suppliers
Manage and edit your agency's suppliers directly from this tab. Your agents can still access these suppliers through the supplier library under Library Items. Edits you make here are reflected there.

Bookings
A dedicated tab for looking up bookings across your agency.

Commissions
All commission reconciliation for your agency happens here. The Commissions experience itself has not changed. You can still add statements, flag unclaimed bookings, and distribute commission.

Settings
All agency settings are consolidated in one place:

  • Agency details, including team and billing

  • Agency controls, like booking requirements, how you handle unclaimed commission, and advanced settings

  • Commission rules, including your default split and commission types

  • Payout rules, if you've set them per supplier type

  • Integrations

  • Agency-level terms and conditions

How This Changes the Agent Experience

The rest of Tern now reflects the experience your agents use every day. Trips, tasks, and library work as they always have.

The Commission tab in the agent experience now shows only your own bookings, meaning bookings you submitted as an agent.

If you're an admin, you can still create payouts from this view. Agents cannot create payouts on agency bookings. Think of the agent-side Commission tab as your personal hub: just your bookings, just your payouts.

What Moved Where

If you're used to the old layout, here's where things went:

  • Settings → Agency section is now the Settings tab in Back Office Home.

  • Library → Suppliers is now the Suppliers tab in Back Office Home. Agents still access suppliers through Library Items.

  • The old Commission area mixed your agent bookings with agency-wide bookings. Agency-wide commission work now lives in the Commissions tab in Back Office Home, and the agent-side Commission tab shows only your own bookings.
