Hotels by Tern: Tern's Role as Your Hotel Supplier

C
Written by Charles Sustaita

Tern is a hotel supplier to your agency, like any other supplier. Your advisors book under your agency's credential, and Tern pays commission to your agency. Tern is not a host agency.

Is Tern Becoming a Host Agency?

No. Tern is not a host agency and never will be. Tern holds no booking credentials of its own. It uses your agency's credential to set Tern up as your approved supplier.

The agency of record gets paid on every booking.

How the Approved Supplier Model Works

  • The credential holder decides. Hotels by Tern turns on only after the agency or host that holds the booking credential approves Tern as a supplier. Booking is not enabled by default.

  • One approval covers every advisor. Once the credential holder opts in, every advisor booking under that credential has access. Advisors don't opt in individually. During the user conference, Tern turns on agency owners and attending advisors first, and everyone else shortly after.

  • Sub-agencies follow the credential holder. A sub-agency or advisor can book under a credential only after its holder has opted in.

  • No extra fee. Hotels by Tern is included with your Tern subscription.

If your agency hasn't approved Tern, your advisors can see the hotel search experience in Tern. They can't see live rates or book.
