Hotels by Tern: For Agencies

C
Written by Charles Sustaita

Your agency earns commission on every hotel your advisors book through Tern.

How much commission do advisors earn?

Commission is 10% on every booking. This is the total commission on the booking, before your agency's split with the advisor. The commission amount is shown on each booking.

When is commission paid?

Tern pays commission to your agency every Friday. Each payout covers hotel stays that checked out from the previous Friday (00:00 UTC) through Thursday (23:59 UTC). Payout is based on the hotel's checkout date, not the end of your client's whole trip. Your agency pays each advisor's split. A commission statement is sent to the email address you set during onboarding.

If a booking is cancelled, the commission is not paid out.

How do I set up payouts?

You set up payouts during Hotels by Tern onboarding. Add your IATA or CLIA number, your W9, your bank account, and the email address for commission statements, then sign the terms. To verify your bank account, Tern sends a deposit of under $1 that arrives in 2 to 3 business days. You'll get an email asking you to enter the exact amount. You can book before your account is verified, but commission isn't paid until it is. See "Hotels by Tern: Agency Onboarding" for each step.

If your bank account is in Canadian dollars, your commission statement includes an FX fee, and the amount moves with the exchange rate. A USD bank account avoids both.

Do I need Tern's back office?

No. Tern pays Hotels by Tern commission automatically every Friday, so you don't need the back office to receive or track it. If your agency already reconciles commission in Tern, these bookings appear there too.

Can I get a report of my advisors' hotel bookings?

Yes, you can get a report of your advisors' Hotels by Tern bookings in your expected and received commission reports by filtering to Tern as a supplier.
