Joining a host agency when you already use Tern

You used Tern on your own before joining a host. Here's which credential to book under, what happens to older bookings, and how to avoid paying twice.

What changes when you join

Your agency now sits under your host. Your host may pay for your seat, and you'll see a new credential with your host's name "via" your agency.

Book everything new under your host

For every new booking, pick the credential with your host's name via your agency, for example Travel Planners International (via Driftwing Travels).

Don't switch between your own accreditation, your host's, and Independent. Bookings spread across credentials are hard to reconcile, and your host may not see them.

Bookings you made before you joined

They stay where they are. Whether they should move to your host's route is up to your host. Check with your host first, then contact Tern support if they need to move.

For a single booking:

  • Still planning: change the credential on the booking.

  • Already booked: reconcile or remove the recorded commission payment first, then change the credential.

If your host can't see a booking

Check that it uses your host's credential, then fill in any fields your host requires, like a supplier from their list or a confirmation number.

Make sure you're not paying twice

  • Personal subscription: it cancels automatically, with a prorated refund, once you accept the seat your host pays for.

  • Your own agency plan: go to Back Office → Settings → Team & billing and check who pays for your seat. If you're still being billed, contact Tern support.

  • Asked to choose a plan when joining: don't pay. See Asked to choose a plan when joining through your host agency.

Two logins or two agencies?

Don't create another agency. Contact Tern support and we'll help you clean it up.
