Overview

Tern has introduced a change to automatically display US, UK, and Canadian date formatting based on your browser and device settings.

Here's a quick overview of the various formats you might see in Tern. In the example below, if your browser/device is set to US english, you can expect the formats in "column 1".

How to check your settings

Tern chooses which format to use based on your language & region settings. If you aren't seeing a format you expect, here's a few tips:

1. We first recommend checking your computer settings, and look for 'Language'.

On a Mac, it looks like this. System Settings --> Language & Region.

2. Next, check out your browser settings to ensure this also matches what you expect. For some browsers (like Safari), your device will typically set it automatically. For others (like Chrome), you may have to manually adjust in certain cases.

In Chrome, it looks like this - Chrome --> Settings --> Languages.

3. If things still aren't working as expected, please contact our support team!

  • It's possible your preferred format isn't supported yet, in which case they can submit a request on your behalf.

  • Or you may have encountered a bug that we need to look into.

You can do this by clicking the chat bubble in the bottom right of your screen, or emailing [email protected].
