Who can remove an advisor from an agency?
Only an agency owner or admin can remove an advisor from an agency. Advisors cannot remove themselves from an agency directly.
If you've switched host agencies
Ask your previous host agency to remove you from their Tern team. They can do this from their Team Management page.
If your previous agency is unresponsive, contact Tern support and we'll help disconnect your account.
Change your default agency (if applicable): Go to Settings > Agency Details, find your new agency, click the three-dot menu, and select Set as default.
What happens when you're removed
You keep access to trips you personally created.
You lose access to shared agency workflows, templates, and other collaborative resources.
You must have an active Tern subscription to continue accessing your own trips.
Your previous agency retains access to shared trip data, including credit card authorizations and terms and conditions from those trips.
What if the agency owner accidentally removes themselves?
If you are the agency owner and accidentally remove yourself, you cannot re-invite yourself.
If your agency is part of a host agency: Contact your host agency admin and ask them to re-invite you through their team management settings. They have the ability to restore your owner membership.
If you do not have a host agency: Contact Tern support for assistance restoring your ownership.
Important
Changing your default agency does not revoke your previous agency's access to your data. You must be formally removed from the agency for access to be severed.
