TPI Advisors: What to Expect as TPI Moves to Tern

What's happening now during Early Access, what changes at TPI's winter transition, and what happens to your data.

There are two phases

Today: Early Access. You have a Tern account under TPI, and your license is included in your TPI membership. TPISuitcase is still your back office. You can submit sales from Tern through the one-way sync, or keep submitting in TPISuitcase.

Later: the winter transition. Tern replaces TPISuitcase as TPI's back office. Your TPISuitcase data moves into Tern, and you submit sales and view commission reconciliations in Tern.

When is the winter transition?

TPI is targeting winter 2026 and will share the exact date at least 3 weeks in advance. TPISuitcase won't be shut off until TPI is confident the transition is complete and stable.

The goal is a single cutover: you'll only ever work in one system at a time, while both run in parallel behind the scenes as a safety net.

What changes at the winter transition?

  • Your TPISuitcase history comes into Tern: booking and commission history from December 2021 onward.

  • Statements arrive already reconciled from TPI, replacing any manual reconciliation you're doing now.

  • TPI's supplier list is imported and suggested when you make bookings under the TPI accreditation.

  • TPI's contact data is added for agencies that haven't imported their own contacts.

If you're already active in Tern or have imported historical bookings, expect some cleanup as your data merges with TPI's. See What Happens to Bookings You Already Have in Tern.

What happens to my data?

Today: your historical sales, commission history, and statements stay in TPISuitcase.

After the winter transition: your TPISuitcase data is migrated into Tern, so you won't be starting from scratch. Tern maps as much as it can automatically. Where records can't be matched with confidence, Tern will show them to you for a quick manual review rather than guessing.

Your client data, booking history, and business records belong to you, not to TPI or Tern. If you ever leave TPI, you keep access to your information in Tern.

I already had a Tern account. What changes?

Once you accept your TPI invitation, your account moves under TPI, and nothing changes right away. It's still worth reviewing TPI's onboarding resources, linked in the banner at the top of Tern, to check your setup:

  • Agency owners and agencies of one: review the agency owner onboarding steps, including your subagency and commission splits. If you also book travel yourself, review the advisor steps too, since your personal and business settings don't carry over to your advisors the way back-office settings do.

  • Associates on a team: your account is added under your agency, which is already under TPI. Review the advisor onboarding steps to confirm your setup.

If you had your own Tern subscription, see Pricing, Licenses, and Billing Questions for what happens to it.

Do I have to use Tern as my CRM?

No. The only requirement is using Tern for back-office tasks: submitting sales, tracking commissions, and reconciling statements. The CRM is there if you want it, and you can keep using another CRM alongside Tern. TPI has no plans to integrate Tern with TravelJoy or Travefy.

What about CORE, the TPI Booking Engine, and unclaimed commissions?

  • CORE is being redesigned as an updated Agent Portal. You'll reach it through its own URL or a quick link inside Tern.

  • The TPI Booking Engine stays available and syncs to Tern.

  • Unclaimed commissions: today these are handled through TPISuitcase. How they'll work after the winter transition is still being finalized with TPI, and TPI will share details closer to launch.
