We’re excited to introduce Tern’s upcoming insurance integrations, designed to make it faster and easier to offer and place travel insurance for your travelers without leaving Tern. With these integrations, you’ll be able to present travelers with insurance options, securely collect and share their card authorization directly with the supplier to purchase the policy, and automatically log the booking in Tern once they purchase.
What’s launching
Insurance Placement in Tern: Generate quotes for insurance products directly within a Tern trip.
Automated Purchase Flow: When a traveler authorizes their card, the card details are shared with directly the insurance partner to purchase the policy.
Automatic Booking Logging: The purchased insurance policy is automatically logged on the trip in Tern.
No Redirects for Travelers: Travelers stay in Tern throughout the purchase flow.

We will roll out insurance partners throughout early 2026. We’ll share exact timing as each partner goes live. Initial partners include Arch Roamright, Chubb, Faye, Travel Insured International, and Trawick.

How Insurance Integrations Will Work in Tern
Tern’s insurance integrations will be built built to support a smooth advisor + traveler experience:
You add quotes to a trip with the click of a button
Your traveler reviews the insurance options, and makes their selection
Your traveler enters a credit card authorization in Tern
Tern securely shares the authorization with the insurance partner to purchase the policy
The booking is automatically logged in Tern
Your traveler does not need to leave Tern to complete their purchase.
Commissions & Pricing
Does this change my commission?
No. There is no change to commissions as a result of this integration. Commissions remain between the advisor and the supplier, and work the same as they have previously.
What price do commissions apply to?
Advisors receive commission on the full price shown in Tern.
Will insurance prices differ from the supplier website?
No. Insurance product pricing remains the same on Tern as it does when sourced directly from the supplier.
Confirmations & Policy Documents
How will I get confirmation and policy details after purchase?
We’ll share specifics for each integration as they go live. For now, confirmation processes will continue to follow each partner’s existing flow. In most cases, confirmations are sent directly to the advisor.
Additionally, Tern will automatically add confirmation documents to the related insurance activity within your trip, making them easy to reference and share with your travelers.
Security & PCI Compliance
Our insurance integrations are PCI compliant. Tern securely shares the traveler’s credit card authorization directly with the insurance partner.
FAQ## Troubleshooting
Why Your Insurance Payment is Not Showing in the Payments Tab
If a travel insurance payment is marked as "paid" in the bookings tab but does not appear in the payments tab, it is likely because the insurance was added in an option block without being finalized. To resolve this issue:
Open the option block or Insurance tab where the insurance was added.
Mark the insurance item as Paid.
Republish the trip to finalize the changes. After republishing, the payment will be properly reflected in the payments tab of Tern.
Ensuring Insurance Policies Link to External Systems
If your insurance policies are not appearing in external systems like Arch RoamRight after marking a quote as "paid" in Tern, it may be due to how the policy was initiated. Policies created through a manual quote process rather than the integrated "Get Quotes" workflow will not automatically link to external systems. To ensure proper linkage:
Always start the insurance setup using the integration-specific workflow, such as the "Get Quotes" option in Tern.
This allows Tern to transmit the necessary authorization and complete the booking in the corresponding external system. By following these steps, you can avoid synchronization issues and ensure the policy data reflects accurately both in Tern and the external system.

Tern partners and integrates with insurance providers to make it easier for advisors to place and offer travel insurance. Insurance is an important part of protecting both the traveler and advisor, and we want to make offering it quick and easy.
We hope these partnerships save time, better protect advisors and travelers, and enable advisors to earn more.
Will bookings still be manual?
Not if you use the integration. Once your traveler enters their credit card authorization, the authorization will shared with the insurance partner to purchase the selected policy, and the booking will be automatically logged in Tern.
Will my traveler be taken to the insurance website to make a payment?
No. Tern securely shares the traveler’s authorization directly with the insurance partner, so your client won’t need to leave Tern.
