How is the service fee structured on Lucia, and who is responsible for paying it?

Written by Ken Ducusin

Question: How is the service fee structured on Lucia, and who is responsible for paying it?

Answer: Lucia charges a service fee based on the project's total cost, which covers platform maintenance, customer support, and ensures a secure transaction environment. Users can choose between different subscription levels:
- Free Membership: No monthly fee, but a 20% service fee is added on top of work payments.
- Paid Membership: $39/month or $390/annually, with a reduced 10% service fee.
- Weekly Retainers: An auto-renew subscription with a CoPilot for 5, 10, or 20 hours a week, with a 0% service fee.
When you hire a freelancer, the service fee is added on top of any request rates and is automatically included in your total payments. Payments are processed through the platform, where you add a payment card. Once the work is confirmed, your card is charged the total amount, including the service fee, and Lucia processes the payments to the CoPilots.
