Build a table or chart that answers your own question, save it, and share it with your team. Everything here requires Tern Pro.
Note: Check Where to Find It in Reporting first. Tern may already have a report that answers your question.
Building a Report in Report Builder
The example below finds which suppliers still owe your agency commission.
Pick your data. Go to Reporting → Report Builder and click the data source in the top left. Choose Bookings (Agency) for everyone's bookings, or Bookings (Individual Advisor) for just yours. Click Select.
Tick the columns you want. Search the column list and tick each box. Each column you pick appears in the search bar.
Filter a column. Hover a column, like Commission Status, and click its funnel. Tick the values you want, like overdue and partial, and click Apply.
Run it. Click Go. Click a column header to sort.
Save it. Click the title to rename it, then click ··· and Save. Give it a name you'll find again, and click Save answer.
Switch to a chart (optional). Use the table and chart icons. The panel on the right holds chart settings, like labels and colors.
Why Your Rows Turned Into Totals
Report Builder makes one row for each combination of labels (like Supplier Name or Advisor) and dates (like Booking Date monthly). Numbers (like Gross Sales or Expected Commission) are added up within each row. That's why their headers say "Total."
To see every booking on its own row, add Booking ID. Add Booking Name to tell them apart.
Starting From a Dashboard
Every chart on Tern's dashboards can be the start of your own report.
Open a dashboard. Go to Reports → Dashboards and open one, like Agency Sales and Expected Commission.
Copy a chart. Click ··· on any chart, then Make a copy.
Change your copy. It opens in the same builder. Add or remove columns, click Go, then save it.
Asking AI Assist
AI Assist builds the same kind of report from a question.
Ask your question. Go to Reporting → AI Assist and ask in plain English. Say whose data you want ("my" for yours, "our agency" for everyone's), what to measure, and the time period.
Save or pin the answer. Save keeps it in Saved Queries. Pin adds it to a dashboard.
Finding and Sharing Your Reports
Go to Reports → Saved Queries to find everything you've saved, newest first.
To share a report, open it and click the share icon. Pick your agency by name, then click Share. Everyone in your agency can then open it. You can't share with one person at a time. Sharing is available when your agency has an owner on Tern.
Note: If you build a report on Individual Advisor data and share it, each advisor who opens it sees only their own numbers. To see everyone's, make an Agency version too.
Checking Your Work
Before you trust a number:
Look at rows before totals. Add Booking ID and a few columns until you can see exactly what's in and what's out.
Read the filters. Check the search bar and filter chips. "Showing 1,000 of many rows" means the table is cut off.
Check whose data. Report Builder can reopen on Individual Advisor, so "our" numbers quietly become "my" numbers.
Check which date. "This year" can mean Booking Date, Travel Start Date or Expected Commission Date.
Watch for blank rows and duplicates. A "–" row, or one supplier listed two ways, can hide real money.
Compare with something you know. A booking you know, a dashboard total, or the same question asked in AI Assist.
