Reporting shows your sales, commission, clients and trips. It updates within seconds of any change in Tern.
Three things to know:
If it's in Tern, you can report on it. If it isn't, you can't. Profit is the classic example: Tern doesn't know your expenses.
Reporting is read-only. To change a booking or record commission, do it in Tern itself.
Knowing which field to use is half the work. Similar fields live in more than one place, so expect a few tries.
The Reporting Tabs
Go to Reporting in the top navigation.
Reports: Tern's dashboards and saved queries, plus any reports you or your agency saved. Included with every plan.
Report Builder: build your own table or chart from your data. Requires Tern Pro.
AI Assist: ask a question in plain English and get a chart or table back. Requires Tern Pro.
Not sure which report answers your question? See Where to Find It in Reporting.
Without Tern Pro, Report Builder and AI Assist show an upgrade option instead. If you use up your monthly AI allowance, AI Assist keeps your earlier answers but won't take new questions until your billing date.
Your Reports and Agency Reports
Most reports come in two versions: one for your own business, and one for your entire agency. Only agency owners and admins see the agency versions. See Key Reporting Terms for the details.
What Counts in Reports
A booking counts once it's marked Booked on the trip's Booking & Pricing tab. Moving a trip to a "Booked" column on your trip board doesn't change its bookings.
"Your" reports count only bookings you own. A booking owned by another advisor shows up in their reports.
Changes show up within seconds. There's no sync to wait for.
Filtering a Report
Use the filters at the top of a dashboard to narrow it down.
Date filters, like Booking Date or Travel Start Date, can be rolling (like "This year") or fixed (like Dec 1-31). If your pay period isn't a calendar month, use a fixed range.
Value filters, like Supplier, include or leave out specific values.
Most dashboards show everything booked through today until you add a date filter.
To report by when clients travel, set Travel Start Date and clear any Booking Date range. For trips that start and end inside a window, set Travel Start Date on or after the start and Travel End Date on or before the end.
Saving a View
Click Save View to keep a set of filters. A view with a rolling date like "This year" stays current, so you don't need a new one each January. Saved views are yours. Others in your agency don't see them.
Exploring a Tile
Click Explore on any tile to filter it, add columns, change how it's grouped, or compare time periods.
Note: Explore can only add columns from the tile's own data. It can't list the trips or clients behind a KPI number. Open the Trips or Sales and Expected Commission dashboard for that.
Downloading a Report
Open a tile's menu and choose Download CSV, or download it as Excel, PDF or PNG. You get exactly what the tile shows, with your filters applied.
Building Your Own Report
With Tern Pro, you can build, save and share your own reports in Report Builder, copy any dashboard chart, or ask AI Assist. See Building a Custom Report.
Troubleshooting
A chart is blank or shows $0
Check the date range first. A month-to-date tile is empty if nothing was booked this month. Then look for a filter that's too narrow, and make sure the booking is marked Booked with a booking date inside the range.
A booking is missing
My dashboard totals don't match a report
The totals on your home dashboard count every booked booking by booking date, non-commissionable ones included, with no filters. A report with a date or Commissionable filter can show less.
A practice trip shows up in my sales
Delete the trip or cancel its bookings. Marking a booking non-commissionable doesn't take it out of sales.
If a report shows an error or Reporting won't load, contact Tern support.
