How to create or login to a traveler account by confirming your email

Create your Tern account effortlessly by confirming your email, giving you instant access to your itinerary

Overview

At Tern, travelers can create accounts to interact with itineraries and content shared by their travel advisors. Follow the steps below to easily create a traveler account by only confirming your email address.

Magic link signup: in beta

Starting the week of 6/16/25 we are rolling out an alternate method of authentication - magic link sign-in. This will be available for all travelers by the end of the week.

This method is easier (they can authenticate with one click), and resolves an issue impacting a subset of travelers using the gmail app on their mobile device. They will still be able to authenticate via a sign-in code if preferred.

Why create an account?

We know, we know... who wants another account to manage. The thing is there is a lot of sensitive data involved in travel. From passport information to confirmation numbers and location details we want to make sure your information is protected. Accounts help us keep your information secure.

From an itinerary on web

1. Open your Itinerary

Your travel advisor will send you a link to your itinerary or shared Tern content. Open the link to begin.

2. Select an available action

Select an available action, such as Approve, Select Preferences, or Authorize Payments.

3. Enter your email and click Continue

  1. Enter your email address and click Continue

  2. If preferred, you can log in using Sign in with Google or by setting up a Tern password. Learn how to create an account with a password here.

3. Enter your first and last name

  1. If this is your first time using Tern, you'll be prompted to enter your first and last name before continuing

4. Click the button from your email

  1. Click Sign In Now

  2. If you prefer to copy and paste a code, simply do so and return to your browser tab to enter it

5. Continue with your itinerary action!

Once you confirm your email, proceed with completing your itinerary tasks, such as:

  • Selecting options

  • Choosing rooms

  • Authorizing payments

On our Mobile App

1. Open or download the Tern Mobile App

2. Enter your email address and click Send Code

Enter the email address associated with your Tern account or that you have shard with your travel advisor.

3. Enter the code and Sign Up or Login!

  1. Enter the 6-digit code in the prompt.

  2. If this is your first time creating an account, you’ll be prompted to provide your First and Last name.

  3. If you already have an account, simply enter the code to log in.

FAQ

How do I set up a password for future logins?

You can always log in using a confirmation code. If you’d like to create a password, reset your password from the login screen.

I didn’t receive the confirmation code email. What should I do?

If you don’t receive the confirmation code:

  • Ensure you entered your email address correctly.

  • Check your spam or junk folder.

  • If the issue persists, contact the Tern support team for assistance.
